| [info] VoIP server call drop yesterday | Our main VoIP server, a.speechless, dropped some calls yesterday around 14:30, which caused some disruption. It was such a short outage that people using speechless for calls in our offices didn't notice a problem.
Of course, this isn't an acceptable state for a voice service, so we have implemented additional monitoring to flag up issues like this in future.
It is also worth noting that the recent problems that were caused by a.speechless dying, and being replaced by a backup, were largely due to the backup system running different software versions to the main system. The hot spare has now been moved over to the same software as the main system, and is being tested, to avoid problems like this again should the main system fail.
